About us….

At DASH we believe that everyone, regardless of circumstances, should have a fundamental right to a place of shelter, and help to rebuild their life.

We have been making a positive intervention on single homelessness since 1972, part of what we do is through a project specifically for vulnerable women facing multiple complex needs.

About the role….

We have an opening for a Support Work Assistant to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of our residents.

Each day is different in this role, you’ll maintain a safe and supportive environment keeping the residents, in this case within our project for vulnerable women, at the very heart of what you do.

As a Support Work Assistant you will be expected to work as part of a team providing access to supported accommodation for a female client group with complex needs. The role is to support the client group with aspects of a negotiated support plan including practical tasks and meaningful activities. The premises is staffed 24/7 and the Support Work Assistant’s role is to provide support on a shift rota basis which may include evenings and weekends.

Maintaining a safe and secure environment is key, this may even see you dealing with emergency situations.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with our women, really helping them to build on their strengths, overcome problems and barriers and support them to move towards a more independent lifestyle. You’ll do this through your care, respect, empathy and commitment.

About you….

As a natural communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, you will have a practical and non-judgemental approach.

Resilience is key, you will thrive under pressure and enjoy the variation of working with a challenging client group.

You will have the ability to work within policies, procedures and regulations, and any knowledge of the benefits system would be an advantage but not a deal breaker.

We ask for a flexible approach to help us provide 24/7 support to our residents, you can expect shifts on a rota basis, this may include occasional weekend or nightshift patterns.
