Tilbury Douglas volunteers do a fantastic job!

Tilbury Douglas, a major construction company, contacted DASH to see if we needed any help. We asked if they could help with some painting work at Harry Mears House, one of our properties and they agreed. A team of conscientious volunteers from Tilbury Douglas’s local workforce duly arrived and did an excellent job. We are very grateful to Tilbury Douglas for their support.

Melanie Shaw, Social Value Advisor at Tilbury Douglas Construction said;

“At Tilbury Douglas, our Social Value Policy ensures we give back to the communities we work in. Our aim is to build a better future, through our work with our suppliers, customers and stakeholders and our sustainability strategy focuses on three things:

  • People

We support the people who live and work in the diverse communities we work in.

  • Planet

We look after our planet by reducing our emissions and becoming net carbon zero by 2023.

  • Performance

We measure our performance to ensure we continuously improve what we do for the benefit of everyone.

We are currently constructing the new Durham Investigative Hub at Durham Gate, near Spennymoor, which when complete, will provide a state-of-the-art hub with over 6,600m2 of modern police accommodation for the Durham Constabulary.

Our goal throughout this project is to work closely with the local community. We understand that homelessness is a vital issue within the Darlington and Durham community, so to ensure our work makes a positive, lasting impact, we sought out the DASH (Durham Action Single Housing) Charity as a partner for our activities.

Through our ‘Give a Day of Your Time’ initiative, 12 members of our North East team recently donated their time to paint and redecorate several flats to support the provision of suitable homes for vulnerable members of the community.”
