Thank you Durham SCOOP!

SCOOP is a Durham-based student-led zero-waste shop whose profits are donated to charities working in Durham and across the North East. The SCOOP shop opened before Christmas in Riverside Walk, Durham, selling rice, lentils, pasta, porridge oats, tea, coffee, dried fruit, spices and toilet paper with minimal packaging.

SCOOP is a collective of student-led zero waste shops and sustainable living groups at universities across the UK.

SCOOP customers at the Durham shop voted for one of three charities at the checkout point, and profits were split between the causes according to the corresponding number of votes.

SCOOP local coordinator Anne Herbert Ortega said: “We selected DASH as one of the charities as we believe their work to support those who are homeless or about to become homeless in our local area is crucial, especially given the current situation throughout the UK”

Anne organised an online presentation and discussion with Scoop followers and customers as a fund raising event for DASH and Scoop plan to carry out further fund raising later this year.

DASH would like to thank Anne and the SCOOP team of student volunteers for their valued support.
