Our residents at one of our supported accommodation projects have been busy clearing the surrounding areas of weeds and rubbish.
Since arriving at DASH things have improved greatly where I live at Harry Mears House. In March 2022 new double-glazed windows were installed. All the flats now have new showers and flooring.

Met in year 8 at secondary school in Vietnam and have been good friends since. Came to Durham together (by chance) and now live together studying masters programmes.
With the help of DASH and their support and guidance throughout I have managed to stay extremely motivated in what I wanted to do with my life. We have an opening for a Support Work Assistant to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of our residents. As a Support Work Assistant you will be expected to work as part of a team providing access to supported accommodation for a female client group with complex needs.
I had the most tremendous mentor, Rachel, who I can’t praise enough. She always went above and beyond to support me and push me to do more. She’d always have me involved with the workshops and events DASH would host and it truly was an experience that will stay with me forever.
Over the past few years I have done many cookery workshops with the participants from DASH and every time I’ve enjoyed preparing, cooking & eating the dishes they have made with me
Once again DASH has been successful in retaining Quality Management Certification ISO 9001-2015. Audited by a third-party certification body, British Assessment Bureau, who provide independent confirmation that organisations meet the requirements of ISO 9001-2015.
Volunteers Week takes place 1-7 June every year. It’s a chance to recognise the fantastic contribution volunteers make to our communities and say thank you.
We are pleased to present our new film about DASH. It includes interviews with staff, volunteers, residents and a DASH trustee. The film was produced by Izzy Gale who is one of our volunteers and a keen amateur film maker. It summarises in a few minutes the work we do at DASH to support our residents and deliver our mission.
We think DASH is a great part of Gilesgate and so we’re really pleased to have been involved in supporting its work for several years now.
All across the country, compassionate people just like you will give up their beds for one night to sleep out at home – on the sofa, floor, or somewhere safe outside – each pledging to raise or donate £100 to fight homelessness.
We are extremely grateful to the volunteers who have continued volunteering for us through lock down – remotely.

A TEAM of Town Planners has initiated a 2021 challenge – to make a virtual journey from Land’s End to John o’ Groats to raise money for Durham Action on Single Housing!
DASH became a Registered Provider of Social Housing (RP) in March 2020 and we are now in the build stage of our first project as a RP – the extension and refurbishment of our headquarters, Hudson House in Gilesgate, Durham.
