Alyssa – volunteer

Hi, I am Alyssa. I am a third-year childhood studies student at the University of Sunderland. I started volunteering with DASH as I wanted to gain voluntary experience, develop skills and be a part of helping the community. I heard about DASH online and applied to volunteer with DASH in September 2020. As this time was still during the COVID-19 pandemic it has been difficult to volunteer in person, however I have managed to help, alongside others, to run social media pages and get involved with fundraising events. I am currently promoting, fundraising and spreading awareness about what DASH does and homelessness through social media platforms, as well as take part along with other volunteers in the DASH4DASH event where my team and I will be walking 874 miles across the year to raise money for the organisation. DASH have been a wonderful organisation to volunteer with as everyone has been very welcoming, supportive and there is always something to do, even during this hard time. I have really enjoyed working with DASH so far and I am looking forward to becoming more hands on in the future.
